Embracing Peace: Practicing His Perfect Gift

“So then, make it your top priority to live a life of peace with harmony in your relationships, eagerly seeking to strengthen and encourage one another.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:19‬ ‭TPT‬‬

When I was in High school, I was never the trouble maker but I kinda wish I was. Instead, I was the girl with a military dad and some bodyguards—meaning I had to act good and behave [quite boring for a 12 year old.]

Truth be told, I’d never been in a physical fight, though I wish I had—for a good reason! The farthest I’ve been to was at the principal’s office for threatening another classmate to kick him the same way he had kicked a street dog (talk about animal rights.)

Why am I telling you this? Well...you see, I thought by doing nothing I was keeping the peace (laying low & out of trouble.)

But as I grew up, I discovered that the difference lays in the intentionality of your actions and the posture of your heart rather than your feelings about it.

Did I want to kick the boy? Absolutely! Would my actions helped to solve the problem? Nope!

-Practice peace

How do you keep your peace?

I would like to tell you that I am all flowers, rainbows and unicorns. But the truth is that I am Latina, I despise injustice, and I am the Enneagram 3w2 type. Ha! You’re welcome!

But for real...I want to speak and act Unfiltered 80% of the time.

Jesus is the setting spray that keeps it all together.

Whenever I have an anxiety attack, I use three effective words—“JESUS, help me.”

I always have Psalm 91 on the go (my grandma taught me to pray this one every time I’m in distress)

Sharing it with you now...because sharing is caring!

God is your peace

I like what Psalm 91:15 says. I cling to believe that every time I need God-which it is 24/7-He will be there!

“I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will find and feel my presence even in your time of pressure and trouble. I will be your glorious hero and give you a feast.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91:15‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Chill and Trust God

It is often easier to say that I am going to chill & trust him than actually acting like relying on God—I’ve been there, done that!

Of course, you have to do your best to your capacity and let God move heaven in your favor.

Seeking peace equals to acting in peace; breathing him in and letting him be your peace.

-He is your perfect peace

Practical steps to embrace perfect peace

  1. You can control what’s within you: do an inventory on your triangle (mind-body-soul)

  2. Take action and do your best: remember that faith without actions is dead—take that step!

  3. Practice trust: For once, rely on who God says He is and watch him move.

Prayer of the week

Lord Jesus, I pray to rely more on you...to breathe your perfect peace in every situation, and to follow your footsteps of kindness and love.
