Cultivating Healthy Habits: Stay Healthy Babe!
“Being healthy goes beyond eating healthy food and performing physical activities, it is also about our emotions and our spiritual life.”
I started my journey a couple of years ago after hitting rock bottom. I was drinking a lot and eating mostly junk food until I realized I was not only gaining weight but I was feeling empty and lonely...I was broken. I’ve never felt that depressed. I remember one night I found myself talking to God asking Him for help and forgiveness after years of being stray from Him.
I decided to stop drinking from one day to another and started to eat consciously and healthily.
A year later, almost 20 pounds down, and a better self, I started to share my journey and recipes in order to motivate people and help them to achieve their goals. I could clearly see how food affected us, either positively or negatively, having an impact on our mental health. I also learned something that is even more important: it doesn’t matter how healthy you are if you feel broken you’ll probably won’t feel good. Food problems are related to emotions and the best way to deal with it isn’t only exercising and eating fruits and veggies but is also praying and drawing closer to God.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians 4:6
I was broken, there were many areas in my life that were unsolved, many wounds from my past that brought many issues that I was trying to fix by being drunk or eating bad, but...“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”
(Psalms 147:3)
364 days after, I decided to follow Jesus and accept Him as my Savior.
God created us and made us in His image. Therefore, we need to take care of ourselves and take care of every area of our lives because our body is our temple.
“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
I know God has given me the gift of creating healthy recipes to help people find an easier way to begin and have a healthy lifestyle. That’s what “Stay healthy, babe!” is about: finding a balance and staying healthy physically and emotionally.
If you’re trying to have a healthy lifestyle make sure you enjoy the path, love yourself and trust God, knowing that He will take care and heal every area in your life.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
Is my life perfect ever since? Of course not! I am still dealing with anxiety sometimes but I have God and I trust Him with all my heart.
Prayer of the week
Dear Lord, please help me to achieve my goals and help me to remember that You are taking care of every area in my life. Help me remember that I was fearfully and wonderfully made.
I reach out to You to receive healing so that I may be whole and that I may be able to start-continue my healthy lifestyle.
Thank you because you can turn my brokenness into something new and beautiful. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
